Ce numéro explore le rôle central du nom et de l’appellation dans le théâtre et la poésie de la fin du XVIᵉ siècle. This issue explores the central role of names and naming in late 16th-century theatre and poetry. The contributions show how, in Shakespeare, Spenser, and late 16th-century sonnet collections, names structure characters, reveal social and political stakes, and ensure the poetic coherence of the work. Between proliferation and absence, the choice or performative use of a name transforms the identity of characters and illustrates the symbolic weight of naming at the dawn of modernity.
