Ce numéro questionne comment certaines productions shakespeariennes ont acquis un statut mythique grâce à une combinaison de performance, de réception, de controverse et de circonstances historiques. Loin de considérer le mythe comme une qualité intrinsèque des pièces, les articles montrent qu’il naît de l’interaction entre les textes, les praticiens, les publics et les contextes politiques et culturels à l’échelle européenne.

This issue questions how certain Shakespearean productions have achieved mythical status through a combination of performance, reception, controversy, and historical circumstance. Rather than treating myth as an intrinsic quality of the plays, the essays show how it emerges from the interaction between texts, practitioners, audiences, and political or cultural contexts across Europe.
