Alison Powell

Alison Powell is currently advanced to candidacy in the PhD program in English at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, and her research focuses on 18th century German aesthetics and the Romantic poets. An earlier version of this paper was presented at the Shakespeare Association of American conference in April 2009 ; she recently gave a paper at the British Association for Romantic Studies conference in London (“John Clare, Migratory Locust : Subjectivity as Form and Mirror in Three Poems”). Powell completed an MFA in Poetry at Indiana University, and her poetry has or will appear in journals such as the Boston Review, The Antioch Review, AGNI, Black Warrior Review, Guernica, Quarterly West, Crazyhorse, Puerto del Sol and others, and in the anthology Best New Poets 2006. She teaches Romantic Poetry and Children’s Literature at Hunter College in Manhattan.
