      <title>Shakespeare comme ailleurs intertextuel: les épigraphes anglaises de Françoise Sagan</title>

      <description>Françoise Sagan’s novels hardly begin without epigraphs, mostly written by a foreign writer who happens to be Shakespeare in Dans un mois, dans un an (1957) and Le Garde du Cœur (1968). Since epigraphs are set at the beginning of a literary component to serve as a link to a wider canon and invite comparison, we can say that, applied to Sagan’s sphere, the Shakespearean quotations represent a sort of elsewhere, that is, something pregnant with linguistic, intertextual, historical and cultural otherness. Besides, one of her epigraphs is not translated: the French reader has to find the right translation by himself, bearing in mind that each translation brings new interpretations and connotations. We can find obvious connections between Sagan’s novels and Shakespeare’s dramas, because Sagan is interested in tragic issues, lyrism and fantasizing. Her two novels centralize the baroque themes of madness, dream, illusion, fantasmagoria and metamorphosis. This article shows how the Shakespearian epigraphs revitalize the conception of Sagan as a classic author, through the thematic and stylistic analysis of her two works. The opposition between Racine’s and Shakespeare’s tragedies finally shows that Sagan finds her own absurd and carefree way of considering tragedy. </description>
