      <description>The king of Navarre’s attempt to freeze time and reach an everlasting glory through a narcissistic, hubristic project turns the realm into a haven of childish male friendship, or even a heaven, before women’s temptations. However, the apple has already been consum(mat)ed, and Costard repeats the original fall, calling attention to the body which was banished from this ascetic kingdom as he breaks both his shin and linguistic registers through malapropisms. To top it all, the ladies of France’s arrival threatens to blow the lords’ house of cards as they oppose their creative breath to the men’s stereotypical, hypocritical sonnets and oaths. Just like Pen-elopes, they unweave the webs into which the males tried to catch their female preys, thus delaying the granting of their loves until the lords are ripe and so restoring the natural cycle of life and time. Indeed, their witty repartees hint at a potential new repartition of powers and a new social (dis)order. </description>
